Irish Parish Records about to Go Online

According to an article in Eastman’s Online Genealogy Newsletter, the National Library of Ireland has finally announced a release date for its big microfilming project. On 8 July, the library’s collection of Catholic parish registers will go online… which means that Irish-Americans may finally have the chance to find their ancestors without traveling to Ireland.

Since my ancestors immigrated before the start of vital records in Ireland, this is my only chance for tracing their family history beyond the 1840s. I’m hoping the parish records will finally allow me to move beyond my brick walls.
