I always wanted to know more about my family… but… (Time to end the genealogy excuses!)

After hearing it twice in two days, I can fill in the end of this line by now… and can answer all the excuses! Here’s little food for thought on why and how you should end your genealogy excuses.

1) I always wanted to know more about my family, but I waited too long. Your search would probably have been easier if you’d asked earlier, yes. But do you know something about your parents? That’s all you need to get started!

2) I always wanted to know more about my family, but I don’t know how to start. Check your local library or FamilySearch.org (under help) for ideas.

3) I always wanted to know more about my family, but I don’t want to do the search alone. Welcome to the favorite part of my job! I love guiding clients through research. It’s a time and cost saver for them (I’m not doing all the research but can pinpoint documents more quickly than they can) , and frankly, the engagement is fun for me.

4) I always wanted to know more about my family, but I don’t have time to do the search myself. That’s what a professional genealogist is for! Contact me for help.

Time to forget those excuses! Whether you don’t want to do the research yourself or don’t know where to start, I will have an answer for you. Contact me if you need ideas!
